beautiful. i hope for the bluray edition they keep the packaging, because i for one hate bluray packages...those little flimsy cases are nothing compared to some of the works of art that regular dvd cases are (like all of PTA's).

dammit i knew the bluray would suck. looks like im double dipping.
although the more i look at it, the more i think the bluray one is fake. why would they just put golden globe winner, and not oscar? especially considering up until a few weeks ago, it was being released on hd..and they put the oscar on the 2 disc.
back again- turns out thats the european cover art. still no official announcement for america. so hopefully we get a better one.
I want to know more about "Dailies Gone Wild!"
Dailies Gone WIld??? Does that mean PTA walked around with a hand-held camera and everybody in the cast lifted their shirts up? Now THAT I'd like to see!
Just got my review copy! Here goes the rest of my day.... I'll report back soon.
So, was today the fourth happiest day of your life? (If you're married and have kids, I'm thinking those were first and second, and then your first viewing of TWBB in spot #3.)
No kids, so it's at least #3 ;)
Still digging around and very tempted to just watch the movie again, but just a few notes.... My favorite extra so far is a deleted scene called "fishing" which features a talk between Fletcher and Mary Sunday as well as a very interesting scene in which Abel confronts Daniel. Says DP: "I think Eli is a lunatic." There's also a montage that compares stills used to prepare the film with scenes from the movie, with a few intriguing shots from scenes that were deleted. "Dailies Gone Wild" is an outtake from the restaurant scene. The packaging is lovely. On the outside of the inner sleeve, there's a reproduction of the first page of Oil!, with the original "Ladies and Gentlemen" speech. More soon....
Wow, the Abel/Daniel scene is in the script that's posted on Vantage, but the Fletcher/Mary talk isn't in there. I'm dying of curiosity!
Ah, that's why that exchange did seem familiar -- "Do you know what backsliding is?"
i am full of jealousy right now, mr. hamilton. FULL OF IT. please tell more about the DVD.
There is no plastic in the packaging (other than the shrink wrap.) It's all cardboard, which I appreciate. There are no previews; both discs go straight to the menus, which are very handsome. I'm on a little vacation, but I'll post some screenshots as soon as get home. I also have a bunch of notes from my latest viewing that I'm eager to share, but right now I'm supposed to take a walk on the beach....
afterbirth, might i just say that you have, by far, the best username on this board.
although, you know what i realized- i havent seen a "Daniel Plainview" yet. if you're out there, pipe up and let me know, because i feel like that's an opportunity going to waste.
I agree, afterbirth is a brilliant username.
